Along with the above
mentioned birds, we raised four ducks, that reside happily in the pond
in our back yard. Although they can be quite annoying at times, I
love them very much. I only wish they would let us pick them up the
way they did when they were babies. Finally, there are the two cats,
Missy and Tabitha. Tabitha is a warm and friendly cat, who loves
to caress us. Missy, on the other hand, is a rascal, always getting
into trouble. I love them both equally well.
Well, now that you know about my animals, let me tell you a bit more about myself. I am a graduate of San Diego State University, with an undergraduate degree in psychology. I also received a masters degree in counseling from SDSU. I then traveled back home to the D.C. area, where I completed my Ph.D. in Human Development under Dr. Allan Wigfield at the University of Maryland. I teach a variety of courses at Widener University, including Health Psychology (behavioral medicine), Sport and Exercise Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, and Counseling Psychology. I teach Health and Sport Psychology on the internet as well as on campus.
My research interests are as varied as the courses I teach. I conduct research primarily on issues of Self related to sport and health, as well as anxiety and depression. However, I am also extremely interested in reaching the non-research savvy individual. For them, I have provided my journal Proprium Journal of Psychology. I welcome you all to submit articles relevant to its focus.
