I take this opportunity to introduce myself to those interested.  I am a native of Washington, D.C., two hours down 95 from Chester, PA.  I currently reside just outside New Hope, on a lovely country road, with my beautiful wife Melanie.  Although we have no children at this time, we share a love for other animals, raising and caring for birds, cats, and other creatures as they pop into our lives.  Currently, we have cockatiels, love birds, and a beautiful Conure named Kiwi.  We have also raised several wild birds with some degree of success.  Last year, unfortunately, we lost a lovely starling named Cricket.  This year we have been luckier.  We raised and released a starling, Squirt, who went off with a flock, and a merry little blue jay named Ripley.  Ripley, unlike Squirt, has decided to stick around.  She entertains us regularly with her cockatiel and human whistles.  She also comes by to beg for food on a regular basis.  We are glad to feed her and have her around.  We even took her on a recent trip to Buffalo.

Along with the above mentioned birds, we raised four ducks, that reside happily in the pond in our back yard.  Although they can be quite annoying at times, I love them very much.  I only wish they would let us pick them up the way they did when they were babies.  Finally, there are the two cats, Missy and Tabitha.  Tabitha is a warm and friendly cat, who loves to caress us.  Missy, on the other hand, is a rascal, always getting into trouble.  I love them both equally well.

Well, now that you know about my animals, let me tell you a bit more about myself.  I am a graduate of San Diego State University, with an undergraduate degree in psychology.  I also received a masters degree in counseling from SDSU.  I then traveled back home to the D.C. area, where I completed my Ph.D. in Human Development under Dr. Allan Wigfield at the University of Maryland.  I teach a variety of courses at Widener University, including Health Psychology (behavioral medicine), Sport and Exercise Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, and Counseling Psychology.  I teach Health and Sport Psychology on the internet as well as on campus.

My research interests are as varied as the courses I teach.  I conduct research primarily on issues of Self related to sport and health, as well as anxiety and depression.  However, I am also extremely interested in reaching the non-research savvy individual.  For them, I have provided my journal Proprium Journal of Psychology.  I welcome you all to submit articles relevant to its focus.

Finally, on an even more personal note, in case you are interested, some of my favorite things to do are:
