      ERP Systems and Workflow Management - Organizations of the 1990's have concentrated on the reengineering and redesign of their business processes in order to sustain their competitive advantage.  In order to survive in the 21st century, organizations have focused on integrating enterprise-wide technology solutions in an attempt to improve their business processes.  The largest of these information technology solutions has been in the area of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems.  This course introduces the student to ERP systems and the role of workflow management in enabling those systems.  The student will examine the ERP market then experience an overview of one of these ERPs - SAP.  The student will be introduced to various modules of SAP and receive basic hands-on experience with SAP.  There is an emphasis on analysis and design of business processes in order to improve organizational workflow.  As a result, the student will gain experience with  SAP Business Workflow.  This course will cover both functional and technical issues.

       Business Process Analysis and Process Automation - This course examines the role of information technologies in supporting business processes. Students are exposed to critical issues affecting the management of business processes enabled by enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems.  Issues include how information technology should and can be integrated into the organization to provide a competitive advantage. There is an emphasis on business process analysis, design and implementation methodologies.  In-depth coverage of process modeling, workflow computing issues, and the managerial role within this technology.  Several process modeling methodologies are introduced and students are given hands-on access to IDS Scheer's ARIS Business Architect for NetWeaver.  Students are also given hands-on assignments utilizing SAP Business Workflow.  Case studies and projects are used extensively in order to strengthen a student's ability to diagnose deficiencies and propose the redesign of core organizational processes.  Students develop a working knowledge of process flow models and model driven architecture..        Enterprise Systems and Integration Architectures - Enterprise systems have become prevalent in many organizations and continue to grow.  This course is a technical overview of Enterprise Systems and their impact on organizations.  The concepts, fundamentals, and framework of business enterprise software are emphasized.  Planning and analyzing the feasibility of Enterprise systems for the organization is examined.  The course will also cover the general information technology context for these advanced systems and explore the technological infrastructure and integration of enterprise applications for e-business enterprise applications.  The concepts and framework of enterprise software are introduced using SAP as an example.  Understanding the concepts and issues of SAP provides an overall understanding of the use of enterprise software, in general. Upon completing this course, the student will have a fundamental understanding of enterprise software and its use in organizations.  Students will gain practical hands-on experience with various functional applications of SAP through a series of hands-on exercises.

      Business Process Management: Modeling to Monitoring -  In an effort to become leaner and improve responsiveness to the customer in a volatile economic time, organizations of the 21st century are putting more emphasis on process-centric approaches and are viewing the key to success as lying in Business Process Management (BPM).  BPM involves the practice of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations by focusing on and automating business processes, thereby creating agile processes to consistently achieve competitive advantage.  This course is an introduction and overview of Business Process Management.  The concepts, fundamentals, methods, and organizational impact of business process management are emphasized.  The phases of BPM are examined which include process strategy, process definition, process implementation, and process controlling.  The course will also cover the general methodologies and information technologies utilized in each of these phases for successful BPM initiatives.  Case studies are used to help students gain a fundamental understanding of Business Process Management and the surrounding issues in organizations.
